WHAT WE DO
Some of our usual events....
COATS FOR KIDS
We work with the councilors and teachers at all Laramie schools. They identify the students that need coats, hoodies, gloves, etc. and we buy them brand
new ones. Our requests have numbered as high as 350 in previous years. Laramie is no place for kids to be without a coat!
YOUTH GROUPS
Kiwanis has kids clubs at all school levels. They operate as their own club, elect officers, have meetings, and decide on their own activities. K-Kids is for elementary schools, Builders Club at the Middle School, Key Club at the High School, and CKI (Circle K) at the University.
EASTER EGG HUNT
We host an Easter Egg Hunt every year. It is held at Kiwanis Park in West Laramie. Our Builder's Club stuffs about 2,000 plastic eggs that are then hidden
around the park. Egg Hunters are divided by ages. When the starter says "GO", everybody finds as many eggs as they can.
CHRISTMAS PARADE
Laramie hosts a Christmas Parade every season. We have a float in the parade that features Santa Claus. We also have volunteers from our youth groups
walk beside the float and give out candy. We team up with Tough Guys on this event.
SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY
We host a Christmas Party each year that features Santa Claus, entertainment, story time, and lunch. All special needs kids and their helpers are invited.
It is usually held at Laramie Middle School.
FOOD DRIVES
We have food drives at every grocery store, usually in the fall. Our volunteers ask customers to please pick up a non-perishable item or two, then donate them on the way out.
STARS OF TOMORROW
This is an annual youth talent show for all age levels. College scholarships are given to the winner of the High School aged winner. See the music teacher at your child's school for information about participating.
RAISE MONEY
Our projects require us to bring in several thousand dollars each year. That money helps us to provide new coats to all local students that need one, scholarships for our youth groups, and other requests that come to us. In the past year, we have purchased a new freezer for the Linford Elementary Food Pantry, a new washer and dryer to ACSD1 so that needy families can do their laundry, and a new indoor batting cage for the Laramie High School softball team.
ALL OF THE MONEY WE RAISE STAYS IN ALBANY COUNTY!
The money is raised through a fundraising campaign each spring. We have Community Partners but also gladly accept all individual donations that are offered. Click on the "Donate" button on the main page to make a donation. Thank you very much!
